Queens of the Stone Age

a (wip) Shrine by Lilacia (eravulgaris)

History

Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington. Despite being founded in the Pacific Northwest, they are rooted from the Californian Palm Desert Scene, and are credited as the band to popularize the stoner rock genre.

Created by frontman Josh Homme, Queens of the Stone Age began their illustrious career with their first album, Self-Titled / Queens of the Stone Age, as a two-man band: Alfredo Hernández on drums, and Josh Homme on everything else (vocals, guitar, bass). The two performers knew each other from their previous band, Kyuss, which was formed in Palm Desert, California.

They were accompanied by bassist Nick Oliveri on their first tour, and he was officialized into the band's lineup following the tour.

Albums

Self-Titled / Queens of the Stone Age

self-titled by queens of the stone age cover

Released in 1998.

Queens of the Stone Age was the triumphant first album released by the group. With only Alfredo Hernández on drums and Josh Homme on vocals, guitar, and bass, this album is ridden with heavy, dark, and sensual grooves.

Emotion Sickness

Song of the Week

rated r by queens of the stone age cover Tension Head

A re-recording of the song 13th Floor by Mondo Generator, Nick Oliveri's individual project. Such a sick song, full of vocal screams, shredding guitar, and dour lyrics.

Track Tierlist

This is a tierlist made by yours truly, Lilacia, of (almost) every single Queens of the Stone Age song (minus B-sides and tracks off of Alive in the Catacombs). Of course, this is my own opinion and mine alone, however my opinion is objectively correct when it comes to QOTSA. /silly
