will write a proper review when i'm done, but i'm seriously adoring this book so far.

i'm very early on into the book when writing this, but i love brené brown's other work. her ted talk on the power of vulnerability seriously healed something in high school me.

very dense so far, kind of hard to wrap my head around some parts. i'm gonna keep at it, though. once i'm finished reading for the first time, i'd like to go back and read again whilst taking notes to truly digest everything the book says.
status: finished
this was my favorite book back in junior year of high school. such a brutally vulnerable piece that exposes how addiction feels.
status: finished
once upon a time, this was my favorite book. looking back, however, there are some seriously problematic elements. it's a great cautionary tale, and the language used is beautiful, but it can be difficult to overlook some of the more unsavory parts. that said, it's a classic for a reason.

i don't remember much of this movie, i can't lie. i remember it being good, if not slightly mediocre. it had this weird... i don't know how to put it—maybe "clinical" vibe? detached? it was interesting, but i'm not sure if i'd ever watch it again.

freaky ass movie /pos. i don't recall much of the plot, but there are a lot of scenes in this movie that just kinda... stick with you. lots of really cool concepts put into one film, and a great example of "daytime" horror.

superhero movies are not really my cup of tea, and i found myself bored throughout a lot of this film's runtime. that said, paul dano is in this movie, so it's peak. i'll admit, i was a fiend for 2022 riddler back in the day.

based off of my old favorite book, tweak by nic sheff—as well as the book written by nic sheff's father, beautiful boy by david sheff. a beautiful example of a memoir-turned-movie that displays some of the harsh realities of addiction. i feel like they could have leaned more into certain aspects from tweak, but hey, what do i know? it was a tearjerker, and i'd like to revisit it someday.

maybe i'm just rating this lower relative to other movies on this list because i don't remember much of it. i dunno! i know this movie's a cult classic, and i'm not saying it's bad by any means—in fact, "the dude does not abide" has become a regular phrase in my vocabulary. so there are definitely things that stuck with me from this movie, but overall, it's just not my style. it's definitely fun, though, and i would recommend it to those who haven't seen it—just don't necessarily expect something life-changing.

the best acting keanu reeves has ever done in his career. shoulda done this movie and called it quits. sorry for being a keanu hater. anyways, like a lot of these movies, i don't remember much of this film, so i don't wanna say too much more. i remember enjoying it when i watched, but i can't imagine really wanting to go back to it.

god, i loved and hated watching this movie. it's one of those films that was all done in one continuous shot, and the tension is off the charts. it's like the most intense episode of kitchen nightmares you've never watched. i would highly recommend if you feel like being put in a bad mood, in a good way.

i don't even really know what to say about this one other than that it's such a fun romp full of interesting visuals and queer subtext (imo). go keanu!! give us nothing!!!!

i watched this in my cybersecurity class in high school and my teacher justified it with "it's about social engineering!" she just did NOT want to do work that day LOL. an enjoyable romp, one i don't recall much of, but it was a fun time.

this movie did something to my brain chemistry when i watched it in high school. edgy teen witches rlly spoke to me as a concept. as per usual, i don't remember much about this movie, but i DO remember thoroughly enjoying its runtime.

i read the crucible so many times growing up, but i only watched this movie once in junior year for my english class. it was fine, i guess? i think i just got worn out on the story of the crucible, even though the salem witch trials used to be one of my hyperfixations. winona ryder my goat.

either i'm silly, or people who say they understood this movie on their first watch-through are LYING. i only ever saw this film once, and all i remember is being confused as fuck. love the vibes, don't get te plot.

i may be in recovery from addiction, but FUCK this movie is good. one of the best examples of book-to-film adaptation ever, i think. if you're a user of drugs, you cannot watch this movie sober. if you're not a user of drugs, well... tough luck, you better start (THIS IS A JOKE!!!). i actually went as raoul duke for halloween in 2025. this movie isn't necessarily fun, or a good time, but... well, it's fun. and a good time.

this is probably my favorite horror movie. i'm not even sure if i can fully articulate why. maybe it's because i got my period right before watching it—the timing was serendipitous, LOL. for real though, i think if i watched this movie for the first time at 16 instead of 21, i would be a much different person. wonderful movie that can honestly represent a lot of things if your'e willing to look into it deeper. personally, i took it as a mental health + cycle of abuse allegory. but maybe i'm just the #toowokefriend.

okay, i'll admit, i only watched this movie for the first time because it had paul dano in it. SUE ME!!! that said, it's a powerful feel-good movie for me. the dysfunctional family component rings true. i think i have every beat of this movie memorized. i don't know what else to say. it's just a really good movie.

this might be my favorite movie of all time, and i don't know what that says about me. oh well. every time i find myself slipping back into suicidal ideation, i find myself watching this movie. every time i find myself growing close to someone, i like to show them this movie. it's hard to overstate how much this movie means to me. i'm critical of it, don't get me wrong—there are some portions that are distasteful, or just downright cringe. that said, i know of no other media that so candidly tackles the topic of suicide. i find myself bawling like a baby at the scene where archie meets vargas every. single. time. "if you want to kill yourself man, kill what you don't like. kill narcissus. i had an old self that i killed. you can kill yourself too, but that doesn't mean you got to stop living. kill the part that's all about you and nobody else ecause that's the part that makes you want to curl up and die."

what a fucked up movie in the most awesome sense of the word. to me, it was honestly more tragic than scary. the storytelling is great, the acting is great, the special effects are great. i can't think of much to knock off points for, plus this movie holds a special place in my heart as the first movie i watched with my gf. thank you for showing this movie to me cybill :)
